Metal Church Buildings – The Trend Continues to Grow!

An article in Religious Product News recently pointed towards a trend of churches that are now discovering and benefitting from metal buildings. The growing trend of using 100×100 steel buildings for large congregations has been noted in many parts of the United States where churches are being built on open plots of land using pre-engineered metal buildings.

Interestingly metal building systems themselves aren’t a new concept. It has been in use since the 1950s as a way to provide congregations with facilities to gather and worship. However, what has changed over the years is technology. The use of the latest manufacturing processes and technology has now made it possible to design and manufacture metal structures customized to a church’s needs.

The Benefits of Building A Church with Prefabricated Metal

One of the biggest advantages of using prefabricated metal building churches is that the space can be wide open, with a clear span, and column free. So, you can seat more people, more comfortably in a comparatively smaller space. Plus, these church buildings are more affordable to set up for the most part compared to building a conventional church. Affordable structures are essential for churches since the donations by which they are built sometimes isn’t enough for a conventional church construction project.

The other major benefit of using prefabricated metal for churches is the speed of building. For instance, a 50×100 steel building for medium-size congregations can take under a week to set up. Whereas the same type and size of the church using conventional building methods could take months. Plus, it is natural disaster proof, pest proof and is low on maintenance.

Can be Easily Expanded Upon

As the congregation grows, a church will need more space. So the initial 50×100 steel building for medium-size congregations may not be enough. In that case, the building can be upgraded to the 100×100 steel buildings for large congregations. Alternatively, another building can be set up right next to the existing one. Almost anything is possible when using prefabricated metal buildings.

Easy to Maintain

Churches like all other buildings need to be maintained. Most churches will need to be colored every few years, holes will need to be repaired, and electrical systems may have to be replaced. However, prefabricated metal churches, for the most part, are maintenance free. Metal structures don’t develop holes or cracks. Plus, they are rodent and pest free. It isn’t possible for insects like termites to eat through the foundation of the church.

Conclusion

Metal church buildings don’t just save money in the short term but also in the long-term. That’s why there is a growing trend to build metal churches. So before building a church it is always a good idea to do a bit of research to find the right prefabricated metal building. That extra bit of effort will pay dividends in the long-term.
